Srilanka, June 20 -- Deputy Minister of Education and Higher Education, Dr. Madura Seneviratne, confirmed in Parliament today (20) that the Grade 5 Scholarship Examination will not be suspended immediately.

Responding to a question raised by MP Dayasiri Jayasekara, the Deputy Minister stated that the government has decided to hold the examination as usual in 2029. A special committee will be appointed in 2028 to assess whether the exam should continue beyond that year.

Dr. Seneviratne also revealed that the Department of Examinations is currently working on a plan to reduce the stress associated with the scholarship exam. Additionally, future steps will be taken to systematically address disparities among schools and lessen the overall...
