Sri Lanka, Nov. 22 -- The Disaster Management Center has confirmed that the death toll from the landslide in the Lower Kadugannawa area of Ganethenna has risen to two.

Among the deceased is a person who was trapped under debris. Four others injured in the incident are receiving treatment at Mawanella Hospital, according to hospital sources.

The landslide occurred around 9:00 a.m. today (22 November) when soil and rocks collapsed onto a shop in the area.

Authorities have temporarily closed the Ganethenna junction-Kadugannawa road. Vehicles traveling from Colombo to Kandy are being redirected via Rambukkana-Galagedara, while travelers from Kandy to Colombo are advised to take alternative routes.
