Sri Lanka, April 4 -- The Nugegoda Divisional Criminal Investigation Bureau has launched an investigation into the suspicious death of a 26-year-old youth, Sathsara Nimesh, while in police custody at the Welikada Police Station.

According to police reports, Nimesh was arrested on April 1 after officers received a complaint about an unauthorized entry into a house in Nawala.

The police claim that upon questioning, he exhibited signs of a mental disorder, prompting them to take him into custody for his own protection.

The police further state that while in custody, the suspect exhibited erratic behavior, repeatedly banging his body against the walls of the cell, making it difficult for officers to control him.
