Sri Lanka, June 30 -- All Day Care Centres which had been closed due to COVID-19 pandemic in the country, will be allowed to re-open from July 2, Women's and Child Affairs, Health and Indegenous Medicine Minister Pavithra Wanniarachchi said.

Commenting on the move the Minister said that many parents working in both the public and private sector were unable to return to work as there was no one to leave their children with given that day care centres were also closed for the last few months.

She added that all health guidelines will need to be followed by the centres and that it was decided to open these day care centres as there have been no incidents of local transmission of the COVID-19 pandemic in Sri Lanka.
