Srilanka, April 8 -- The officers attached to the Narcotics Control Unit of Sri Lanka Customs have seized Rs. 24 million worth foreign cigarettes smuggled into the country by Sri Lankan passengers at the BIA on Sunday (6).
The passengers had arrived from Dubai on flights FZ 549, EK 652, and EK 654, and from India on flight 6E 1171. One thousand eight hundred and forty-three cartons of foreign cigarettes were confiscated during the operation. The operation highlights the ongoing efforts to curb illegal imports and protect State revenue.
