Srilanka, March 4 -- Sri Lanka Customs today (04) destroyed a consignment of foreign cigarettes that were illegally imported without paying duty. The seized consignment, valued at Rs. 1.2 billion, was brought into the country last year.

The destruction took place at the illegal cigarette destruction yard within the Ceylon Tobacco Company premises, under the supervision of Sri Lanka Customs officers.

Similar consignments seized in 2024, 2022, and 2018 have also been confiscated and destroyed following customs investigations.
