Sri Lanka, Jan. 28 -- The Ceylon Princess, one of the two ships owned by the Ceylon Shipping Corporation, has set a record by unloading 20,500 metric tonnes of coal at the Norochcholai Coal Plant in a single day on Saturday, the highest unloading for a day.
The coal on the ship, which is anchored in the deep sea, is being transported to the land by about six barges a day.
Captain Deepal Mendis of the Ceylon Princess ship said that 61,000 metric tonnes of coal were brought to the country from Richards Bay Port in South Africa and that the largest amount of coal was unloaded from 6.30 am on Sunday 25 to 6.30 am on 26.
