Sri Lanka, Jan. 28 -- The Colombo Fort Magistrate's Court is set to resume proceedings today (28) regarding the case against former President Ranil Wickremesinghe.

Filed under the Public Property Act, the case involves allegations that the former Head of State misused government funds for a private visit to London to attend a university ceremony honoring his wife, Professor Maithree Wickremesinghe.

Following a statement given to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) on August 22, 2025, Mr. Wickremesinghe was arrested and remanded until August 26.

He was later granted release on three surety bails of Rs. 5 million each after Magistrate Nilupuli Lankapura considered submitted medical reports.
