Sri Lanka, Dec. 12 -- The Colombo High Court today (12) directed that the Bribery Commission's case against former Minister Mervyn Silva be called up on January 19 for further evidence examination.
The case was filed over allegations that Silva illegally acquired assets and property worth nearly Rs. 150 million, exceeding his lawful income between 2010 and 2012. The matter was taken up before Judge Mohamed Mihal.
Silva's lawyer requested an adjournment, stating that it was difficult for him to appear in court today. Taking this into account, the judge postponed the further evidence hearing to January 19 and ordered that two witnesses be summoned to appear on that date.
