Sri Lanka, April 3 -- Colombo Chief Magistrate Thanuja Lakmali today (03) directed the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) to conduct a comprehensive investigation into whether MP Namal Rajapaksa fraudulently obtained his law degree and to submit an immediate report to the court.

The order was issued after the CID presented facts regarding the case, which stems from a complaint filed by the Citizens' Authority for the Prevention of Bribery or Corruption.

The magistrate further instructed the CID to investigate whether Rajapaksa committed fraud while appearing for the Sri Lanka Law College examination and to submit a progress report on the findings.
