Srilanka, March 31 -- The Court of Appeal has ordered the immediate release of a lawyer who was remanded by the Puttalam High Court on contempt of court charges.

The ruling was issued by a bench comprising Acting Chairman Mohamed Lafar Tahir and Judge Priyantha Fernando, following a petition filed by Bar Association President, Attorney-at-Law Rajeev Amarasuriya.

The court has further directed the lawyer to appear before the Court of Appeal on April 28.
