Sri Lanka, April 11 -- The Court of Appeal today (11) ordered the lifting of the interim injunction that had barred the holding of local government elections in 18 local government bodies, including the Colombo Municipal Council, scheduled for May 6.

The court also directed the re-acceptance of nomination papers that had previously been rejected for these institutions.

The order was issued by a bench comprising Acting President of the Court of Appeal, Justice Mohamed Lafar Tahir, and Justice Priyantha Fernando, following the consideration of a motion submitted by the Attorney General.
