Srilanka, April 28 -- The Court of Appeal has dismissed, without hearing, a writ petition filed by former Minister Prasanna Ranaweera, which sought an order to prevent his arrest in connection with the illegal acquisition of government land in the Kelaniya Divisional Secretariat.

The ruling was issued by a bench of judges comprising President of the Court of Appeal, Justice Mohamed Lafar Tahir, and Justice Priyantha Fernando.

In relation to this incident, former Minister Mervyn Silva and several others have been remanded by the Mahara Magistrate's Court.
