Srilanka, April 1 -- The Court of Appeal has ordered the relevant Returning Officers to notify the Local Government Polls that have filed petitions regarding the rejection of nomination papers to suspend further election proceedings until tomorrow (April 2).

This ruling was issued by Acting President of the Court of Appeal, Mohamed Lafar Tahir, and Judge K.P. Fernando, after reviewing petitions filed by political parties and independent groups challenging the rejection of their nominations.

The suspension applies only to the Local Government Institutions that have filed petitions and does not affect other election proceedings.
