Sri Lanka, Dec. 9 -- The All-Island Association of Coroners have decided to forgo all Government allowances for conducting inquests into deaths caused by landslides and floods, Association President Anura Herath said.

He said the association made this decision to support the Government's efforts to restore normalcy, considering the significant expenses incurred due to the current disaster situation. Herath noted that numerous deaths have occurred in several districts, including Kandy, Matale, Nuwara Eliya, Kurunegala, and Badulla, following heavy rains, floods, and landslides caused by Cyclone 'Ditwah'.
