Srilanka, March 6 -- The Consumer Affairs Authority (CAA) has uncovered over 750 tons of imported wheat flour unfit for human consumption in a raid conducted in the Uswetakeiyawa area of Wattala.
The stock, packaged in 3,000 bags, was set to be released to the market despite being heavily infested with insects. The flour had a manufacturing date of May last year and an expiry date of May this year.
Authorities have taken immediate steps to prevent its distribution, and legal action is underway. The CAA has conducted several similar raids in the past to safeguard consumer health.
