Sri Lanka, Feb. 28 -- The Consumer Affairs Authority (CAA) has received complaints about some traders selling and hoarding Kiri Samba rice above the maximum retail price (MRP), despite prices currently being in line with the set MRP of Rs. 260.

In response, the CAA has instructed traders to buy rice exclusively from suppliers who sell at the approved price and to retain supplier receipts. If suppliers demand higher prices, traders have been urged to report the matter to the CAA through their hotline, 1977.

Special raids were conducted in Thalawathugoda, Hanwella, and Kaduwela on February 27, resulting in 7 traders facing legal action for selling Kiri Samba at inflated prices, hoarding it, or failing to display the price. 3 traders were ...
