Srilanka, Feb. 4 -- The Constitutional Council has unanimously approved Senior Deputy Auditor General Samudrika Jayaratne for the position of Auditor General yesterday (3).

The approval of Samudrika Jayaratne, a veteran of the National Audit office who served as the Senior Deputy Auditor General of the Auditor General's Department and was recommended to the Constitutional Council by the President, was made at the Constitutional Council meeting that was held yesterday.

The Constitutional Council met at the Parliament Complex at 12 noon yesterday under the patronage of the Chairman of the Constitutional Council, Speaker Dr. Jagath Wickramaratne.
