Sri Lanka, Jan. 9 -- President Anura Kumara Dissanayake stated that the programme to provide compensation for fully damaged houses and to construct new homes for families affected by the disaster will commence in Anuradhapura and Kurunegala today.

The families whose houses were fully damaged due to the cyclone Ditwah will receive a compensation of Rs.5 million for the construction of new houses and this programme will officially commence in the Anuradhapura and Kurunegala Districts today.

The President made these remarks while participating in the second meeting of the Ministerial Consultative Committee on Finance,Planning and Economic Development of the 10th Parliament, held at the Parliamentary Complex on Wednesday.
