Sri Lanka, Jan. 30 -- The Agricultural and Agrarian Insurance Board has announced that compensation payments for farmers whose crops were damaged will begin today (30).
The floods in November last year caused severe damage across many parts of the island. As part of the relief effort, funds will be credited directly to the affected farmers' accounts.
The program is launching in the Polonnaruwa, Mullaitivu, Vavuniya, and Trincomalee districts, covering a total of 13,379 acres of paddy fields.
