Sri Lanka, Aug. 28 -- Sri Lankan weightlifter Dilma Bandara delivered a superb performance in the youth 72kg category to win the silver medal yesterday at the Commonwealth Weightlifting Championship in Hyderabad, India.
Bandara lifted a total of 190 kg, comprising 90 kg in the snatch and 100 kg in the clean & jerk, to secure second place on the podium.
Meanwhile, Sri Lanka's experienced lifter Indika Dissanayake, a Commonwealth Games silver medalist, narrowly missed out on a medal in the senior 71kg category, finishing fourth with a total lift of 280 kg (130 kg snatch and 150 kg clean & jerk). India's Ajith Narayana won the gold in that category with a total of 317 kg.
