Srilanka, March 12 -- The Cabinet of Ministers has granted approval to appoint a committee to assess the impact of modifications to buses on passenger safety and provide recommendations for proper regulatory action.

Such modifications should address the regulations surrounding bus design to ensure passenger safety and compliance with legal provisions.

As per the Motor Traffic Act (MTA), any modifications to buses require prior approval from the Motor Traffic Commissioner General, with relevant guidelines published through Gazette Notifications since the Motor Vehicles (Construction) Orders of 1983.
