Sri Lanka, Oct. 10 -- Dhammika Ranatunga, an officer of the Sri Lanka Administrative Service (Special Grade), assumed duties yesterday (09) as the new Commissioner General of the Agrarian Development Department.

Ranatunga, who joined the Administrative Service in the year 2000, is an honours graduate in Agriculture from the Ruhuna University. He has held senior positions in a number of government institutions and also served as Additional Secretary in the Fisheries, Aquatic and Marine Resources Ministry before assuming this position.
