Sri Lanka, July 29 -- The Colombo Stock Exchange (CSE) achieved a historic milestone today (29) as the All Share Price Index (ASPI) crossed the 19,500-point mark for the first time in history.
At the close of trading, the ASPI rose by 50.15 points, reaching an all-time high of 19,517.86 points. This surge was driven by rising share prices of 97 companies, including Royal Ceramic Lanka, Melstacorp, Hemas Holdings, LB Finance, and CT Holdings.
Meanwhile, the S&P SL20 Index also saw gains, rising by 19.47 points to close at 5,774.51.
The day's trading turnover stood at Rs. 6.16 billion, reflecting heightened investor activity and positive market sentiment.
