SriLanka, Jan. 3 -- The Colombo Port has achieved its highest container volume handling throughput in history last year. According to a Port Authority official, the port handled 8,290,000 containers, reflecting a 6 percent increase compared to the previous year's figures. In 2024, the port handled 7,700,000 containers.

He said that container handling operations was carried out at the Jaya Container Terminal (JCT), the Eastern Container Terminal (ECT), South Asia Gateway Terminal and the Colombo International Container Terminals (CICT) .
