Srilanka, March 27 -- The Colombo High Court has acquitted and ordered the release of former Kandy Assistant Superintendent of Police, Kulasiri Udugampola, from charges related to the "Millennium City" case.

Udugampola had been accused of endangering national security by disclosing information about a safe house operated by the Sri Lanka Army's intelligence unit in the "Millennium City" housing complex in Athurugiriya in 2002.

The verdict was delivered by Colombo High Court Judge Aditya Patabendige, concluding a lengthy trial that spanned nearly two decades.
