Srilanka, Feb. 21 -- The railway control room has announced that the train service on the Colombo-Batticaloa route has returned to normal from the morning of February 21. This follows the restoration of the derailed train engine, which had been caused by a collision between the Meenagaya Express and a wild elephant.

Previously, the train service on the route had been fully halted, and services from Colombo to Galoya and Batticaloa to Hingurakgoda had been restricted. With the resumption of normal operations, the control room confirmed that the fuel-laden train, which had been halted at Galoya station, has now been moved towards Batticaloa.
