SriLanka, Jan. 3 -- Coconut based exports surpassed US$ 1 billion in 2025 and were projected to close the year at around US$ 1.2 billion, a substantial increase from US$ 800 million in 2024 representing over 40% year on year growth. This marks a major milestone for Sri Lanka's coconut industry.

Industry and Entrepreneurship Development Deputy Minister Chathuranga Abeysinghe noted the sector's emergence as a strategic export crop, expressing confidence that ongoing reforms and market expansion could drive exports to US$ 2.5 billion by 2030.
