Sri Lanka, Dec. 29 -- The Sri Lanka Coast Guard (SLCG) successfully rescued 10 local and foreign tourists from drowning, during lifesaving operations conducted across various coastal regions of the island from December 24th to 27th.
The SLCG operates Lifesaving posts along key tourist attracting beaches around the country, and through lifesaving rescue missions carried out in the seas off Mt Lavinia, Balapitiya, Mirissa and Nilaweli, Coastguard lifesavers were able to rescue 7 foreign nationals and 3 local tourists.
The rescued individuals comprised male and female nationals from Russia, Ukraine and Jordan aged between 14 and 50 years.
