Srilanka, May 5 -- The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) informed Colombo Chief Magistrate Thanuja Lakmali today (May 5) that it has launched an investigation into around 10,000 gold items recovered by the Sri Lanka Army from former LTTE-controlled areas during the humanitarian operation.
The probe aims to trace the origins and rightful ownership of the gold, which is believed to have been seized during the final stages of the conflict.
