Sri Lanka, Dec. 24 -- The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has arrested a man suspected of assisting in the murder of Lasantha Wickramasekara, the Chairman of the Weligama Pradeshiya Sabha, also known as 'Midigama Lasa.'

Wickramasekara was shot and killed by an unidentified gunman on 22 October while seated in his office at the Pradeshiya Sabha.

Investigations revealed that the suspects had entered the Sabha premises under the pretext of submitting a letter for the chairman's signature before carrying out the attack.
