Sri Lanka, June 23 -- The Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC) is appealing to patients and members of the public to come forward with any information related to alleged misconduct involving neurosurgeon Dr. Maheshi Wijeratne, at the Sri Jayewardenepura Hospital.
The ongoing investigation focuses on serious allegations, including the use of External Ventricular Drain (EVD) and Ventriculoperitoneal (VP) Shunt surgical equipment sourced from external suppliers, reportedly causing both physical harm and significant financial burden to patients. Several other charges are also under review.
CIABOC has already recorded statements from 77 individuals who were affected by these alleged irregularities. The Comm...
