Sri Lanka, Dec. 26 -- Colombo Archbishop Malcolm Cardinal Ranjith stated that although the commercial economy has turned Christmas into a trade festival, everyone must clearly understand that it is not merely another event for making money.
The Cardinal made these remarks while participating in the Christmas midnight Mass held on December 24 at St. Mary's Church in Uswetakeiyawa.
"We cannot take anything we earn with us when we go. When we die, we have to leave it all behind. That is why this message given by Christ is important. The Buddha also taught that craving is the cause of suffering," the Cardinal noted.
