Sri Lanka, Dec. 22 -- The Chinese Embassy in Colombo has announced that a high-level delegation from China will visit Sri Lanka from December 23 to 25 with the aim of promoting China-Sri Lanka friendship, deepening mutual understanding, and enhancing practical cooperation between the two nations.

The delegation will be led by Wang Junzheng, a Member of the 20th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and Secretary of the CPC Committee of the Xizang Autonomous Region.

Earlier reports had indicated that Zhao Leji, Chairman of the Standing Committee of China's National People's Congress, would arrive in Sri Lanka on December 23, a day after the scheduled visit of India's External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar.
