Sri Lanka, March 26 -- Colombo Chief District Judge Sandun Vithana yesterday fixed April 22 for trial, of a case filed by Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) Committee member Montagu Sarachchandra, seeking an injunction order restraining former President Maithripala Sirisena from the Chairmanship of the SLFP.

The Plaintiff told Court that holding the post of Party Chairman while holding the post of Patron of the Party was an invalid act in the eyes of the Law and that, the special Executive Committee meeting held on February 25, 2022, for the post of Chairman, was held in violation of the Party Constitution. He added that the meeting held without even inviting former President Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga, was illegal.
