Sri Lanka, Jan. 29 -- The Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CPC) has temporarily suspended the granting of permits for new fuel stations, said its Chairman S. Rajakaruna.
The corporation stated that this decision was taken to resolve the problems that have arisen due to the irregular procedure in which permits for fuel stations have been granted so far.
CPC is currently conducting a study in collaboration with the University of Moratuwa and after that study, a new methodology for granting fuel stations is to be introduced, identifying future needs.
He further stated that the applications received so far will be cancelled and the method of granting fuel stations through political favoritism and irregularities will be abolished accordingly....
