Srilanka, March 28 -- A loss of Rs.262.6 Mn has been caused to Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) as a result of releasing water from Randenigala and Rantembe reservoirs without generating electrical energy owing to a trade union action, an audit report issued by the National Audit Office confirms.
In consequence of a trade union action in 2022 the officials of the Electricity Board had released water from the Randenigala and Rantembe reservoirs without generating electrical energy. However, no measures had been taken to recover the related cost of loss caused to the 'Board' from the respective officials the audit report further emphasises.
