Srilanka, June 30 -- The Ceylon Electricity Board has achieved 72 percent of electricity generation from Renewable Energy (RE) sources in June this year for the first time since 1990s. This is a remarkable achievement ahead of country's national target of achieving 70% renewable energy generation yearly, by 2030.According to CEB spokesman, Dhammika Wimalaweera, the electricity generation from renewable sources reached nearly 70 percent for the last few months and the electricity generation from RE sources surpassed the 70 percent mark this month for the first time after 1990s.
