Srilanka, Feb. 5 -- The Special Investigation Unit of the Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) has earned over Rs. 90 million from fines imposed on power pirates - individuals or businesses that illegally tap into electricity lines or tamper with meters, in the year 2025.

As a result of the raids carried out by the CEB's Special Investigation Unit islandwide in the year 2025, it has been possible to recover an amount of Rs. Rs. 92,770,061.21 in raids related to fraudulent use of electricity in the past year, Indika Fernando, Manager (Investigation) of the CEB's Special Investigation Unit said.
