Srilanka, July 7 -- Engineers report that the water levels of the Castlereagh and Maussakelle reservoirs in the western slopes of Sri Lanka's Central Highlands have risen above overflow levels due to continuous heavy rainfall. As of today (July 7), the Castlereagh reservoir has reached 3 feet above its overflow mark, while the Maussakelle reservoir stands at 4 feet above its threshold.
With the surge in water levels, hydroelectric power stations including Canyon, Laxapana, New Laxapana, Polpitiya, and Wimalasurendra are now operating at full capacity to maximize electricity generation, according to hydropower engineers.
