Sri Lanka, Feb. 1 -- Sri Lanka's aviation sector marked a significant milestone on Saturday (31) afternoon as Beijing Capital Airlines officially inaugurated its direct flight service between Beijing Daxing International Airport and Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA).
The inaugural flight, JD-487, operated by an Airbus A330, touched down in Katunayake at 1:46 p.m. carrying 170 passengers and 13 crew members.
Following aviation tradition, the aircraft was greeted with a ceremonial water salute upon taxiing.
Flight Schedule and Operations
The new service will operate twice weekly, strengthening the connection between the two capitals:
Days: Every Tuesday and Saturday.
Arrival at BIA: 2:20 p.m.
Departure to Beijing: 4:20 p.m.
