Sri Lanka, Sept. 10 -- The Cabinet of Ministers on Monday (8) decided to allocate portions of land from industrial zones to 38 investors on a lease basis for a maximum period of 35 years which is expected to generate 1,559 direct job opportunities, Health and Mass Media Minister and Cabinet Spokesman Dr. Nalinda Jayatissa said.

The decision follows recommendations made under the Industries Promotion Act No. 46 of 1990, where investors are selected through the Regional Industry Service Committees and subsequently evaluated by the Ministry Project Evaluation Committee appointed by the Secretary to the Ministry.
