Sri Lanka, Nov. 18 -- Public Security and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Ananda Wijepala announced today (18) that the Cabinet has approved an allowance of Rs. 7,000 for police officers to cover the cost of uniforms and shoes.
Speaking during the Committee Stage debate on the 2026 Budget in Parliament, Minister Wijepala said the allowance will be provided next month. A total of Rs. 1,100 million has been allocated for this purpose for the year 2025.
He added that the Cabinet has also approved funding for officers' sports shoes and clothing, and approval for this is expected next week.
