Srilanka, June 3 -- The Cabinet has approved the importation of standardized maize required for the continued production of Thriposha, a vital nutritional supplement distributed across Sri Lanka.
Due to difficulties in sourcing sufficient quantities of maize locally, the Cabinet has granted approval to a proposal submitted by Minister of Health and Mass Media, Dr. Nalinda Jayatissa. The proposal allows Sri Lanka Thriposha Limited to obtain an import license to procure the necessary maize for a period of one year.
Sri Lanka Thriposha Limited requires 18,000 metric tons of maize annually, averaging 1,500 metric tons per month, to meet production demands.
