Sri Lanka, April 11 -- The Consumer Affairs Authority (CAA) has carried out 1,200 raids in recent days as part of a special inspection program launched for the festive season.
The CAA stated that intensified raids will continue in the coming days, with a particular focus on essential goods. Officers have been instructed to take action against traders for a range of violations, including:
Not displaying prices
Selling goods above marked prices
Altering product information
Selling expired goods
Failing to issue receipts
Imposing conditions on purchases
Hoarding goods
Refusing to sell goods
Misleading consumers with false discounts and promotional offers
