Sri Lanka, May 16 -- The Court of Appeal ordered the Conservator General of Forests and the Inspector General of Police (IGP) to take immediate steps to stop the large-scale deforestation in the Bogahapelessa Forest Reserve in Soragune, which is located in the Haldummulla Divisional Secretariat Division.

The order was issued when a Writ Petition filed by the Wildlife and Nature Protection Society together with the Center for Environmental Justice was heard before Court of Appeal President Justice Nissanka Bandula Karunaratne and Justice B.Sasi Mahendran was taken up for consideration on Tuesday (14).
