India, Dec. 1 -- President Anura Kumara Dissanayake stated that the cooperation of the country's business community is essential both in providing relief to those affected by the adverse weather conditions and in the programme to restore normalcy to public life.

The President made these remarks when he met with the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce at the Defence Headquarters on Saturday (November 29).

During the discussion, the President briefed the business community on the current situation in the country, as well as on the rescue and relief efforts being carried out by the Government for those affected. He also drew attention to the support that could be extended by the business sector in these endeavours.
