Sri Lanka, Jan. 2 -- The Transport, Highways and Urban Development Ministry initiated new bus services on 40 previously unserviced routes starting yesterday (1), coinciding with the New Year.
The ministry also commenced the development of 76 rural roads under the 'Path to Revival' programme, which aims to enhance the living standards of rural communities by expanding public transport facilities.Rs.5,000 million has been allocated for the first phase of this project. In a statement, the ministry announced that the project aims to strengthen village connectivity, provide easier access to markets and essential services, and bolster the rural economy.
