Sri Lanka, Nov. 27 -- The Kumbukkana area on the Monaragala-Colombo main road has been flooded, causing traffic disruptions. A bus traveling on the same road was caught in flash floods this morning, but all 23 passengers were rescued safely, police said.
The incident occurred as the bus, traveling from Monaragala to Colombo, attempted to cross a bridge near the Ranga Hotel, where water levels had risen to around six feet. With the help of tractors in the area, the bus was pulled back to safety. Authorities confirmed that all passengers escaped unharmed.
The Monaragala District Disaster Management Unit has advised people living in low-lying areas around the Kumbukkana Oya to remain vigilant, as water levels may rise further.
