Sri Lanka, Feb. 10 -- Authorities will take tough action against public transport drivers and conductors using narcotics, implementing measures that include the cancellation of route permits and driving licences, Transport, Highways and Urban Development Minister Bimal Ratnayake said yesterday.

"If a bus driver or conductor is found to be using drugs during the emergency drug tests being conducted these days, the road licence of the owner of the bus too will be revoked," he said.

The Minister also stressed that there will be no second chances and no re-examination and the law will be applied irrespective of status.

Minister Ratnayake said this while attending a meeting held at the Matara District Secretariat.
